Downtown Joe

A couple of weeks ago I told you about Joe, the cheap chic clothing line at Loblaws Superstores. The line was only available in the 'burbs and one or two locations outside the city core. This week two former Caban stores (St. Clair/Bathurst and Queen's Quay) were converted to Joe stores. Check it out and let me know what you think.

  1. I checked out the Joe clothing store at Dufferin and something...I don't remember the exact location, it was way past my normal boundaries.

However, when I got there the selection was slim. There weren't many sizes to choose from. The prices though...unbelievable!

Definitely worth checking out and going to if you need the basics. I am curious to know how they are on the ethical scale...if you find that out for me, let me know!

  2. Mish, I agree. The merchandise depletes quickly but the prices are amazing! I'll see if I can dig up anything about their labour practices and report back.

I stopped into the Bathurst/St. Clair one on Sunday. It was PACKED with people. The line-ups to both the change rooms and checkout were double-digit deep. So I just took a quick look around and decided to come back on a week night.

Basic clothes, but yes, phenomenally low pricing.

And I don't remember the space ever being so busy when it was a Caban store. Well, except when they started selling off the merchandise and fixtures. Don't get me wrong, I was a huge fan of Caban...bought many a personal item and gift there. I was sad to see the Caban era end, but I'm glad the retail space has rebloomed a (Joe) Fresh with a useful store in the 'hood.
